The track “Dungeon Keeper” draws on the atmosphere of a dark dungeon located right beneath the “Sveti Sveti Kiril and Metodii” church in the center of Burgas. Every workday for me begins with a visit to this underground parking lot, and I often observe how lively it gets in the morning. The noise from the car wash and the constant movement of cars inspired me to create this track. But in the evening, the parking lot becomes semi-empty, and its complex configuration with numerous walls, pillars, and corridors starts to resemble a grim level of a computer game.
Returning from work, I realized that the idea for my track was right under my feet. The track begins with noises recorded at the car wash in the parking lot, and the rhythmic sound of a steady kick drum, complemented by dark chords. For additional effects, I used recordings of my car doors slamming, and the reverb was set using the impulse response of the parking lot, which I recorded by clapping my hands. This track is a metaphor for the transition from daytime noise to evening calm and tranquility. “Dungeon Keeper” conveys the atmosphere of the underground parking lot as a reflection of the workday, turning it into a musical piece.
